Fiber Optic Cables & Natural Gas Pipeline Data

We’ve integrated nationwide fiber‑optic cable and natural‑gas pipeline datasets across the Paces platform. This data complements existing transmission grid datasets and environmental datasets, giving you a single location for critical data center site selection data

You can access these datasets in search, maps, site detail pages, tables, and when generating insights.

In Search you will now find this information under Step 7 - Other Infrastructure. In addition to specifying a minimum distance you can also specify a type of fiber optic cable you would like to target (longhaul backbone, metro backbone, regional backbone, metro). For natural gas you can specify a range of pipe diameters you are interested in searching against.

On the map you will now find these datasets in every state. You can find these map layers under the "Other Infrastructure" subheading. Map filters are available which provide the ability to see data that only fits a specific criteria i.e gas pipelines above 12 inches in diameter.

If you select a fiber optic cable or natural gas pipeline on the map you will be able to see a wide range additional information. For fiber this includes name, operator, status, type, and other fields. For gas this include name, operator, status, type, diameter and other fields.

You can generate additional insights on fiber or gas for any folder of sites by selecting the Generate more insights option.

If you use fiber and gas in your search or generate more insights you will find that information in all tables as well as on the site details page.
